| The work was originally published in 12 parts from 1805 to 1809, with text in French (Histoire Naturelle des plus Beaux Oiseaux de la Zone Torride) and color plates engraved by Louis Bouquet from drawings verizon by Jean Gabriel Pretre and is here reprinted for the first time. It contains "some of verizon the world's most unique avifauna: seedeaters from the New World neotropics, munias from the rain forests of New Guinea to the Sundas, malimbes from the steaming forests of tropical Africa, dazzling finches from the arid verizon deserts of Australia" (from the new preface of James F. Clements). There is also a biography of Vieillot by Philip R. St. Clair. The text in this work is in English. Since his death, more than 25 species have been named after Vieillot, and he greatly influenced later ornithologists. |
