Johnson. AmBulls were used in the pit but were mainly used for farm work in the south such as hog catching. The name was changed to distinguish the 2 breeds. The American pitbull terrier is a bulldog/terrier cross. Both are extremely loyal to their owners where as injuries a Pit Bull is extremely loyal to ANY HUMAN... Any dog which was human aggressive was thought not to be a game dog, and even if it was it still couldn't be handled or doctored so it wouldn't ever be bred and it would usually be put down.
